In February 2005 a team of DTRG members spent a morning undertaking conservation  work at Caroline Wheal Prosper, a small 19th-century tin mine sited in privately owned woodland near Buckfastleigh.

Saturday 19 January 2008: Working Party at Brimpts Tin Mine

Meet 10.00 to clear leat and wheelpit in the Plantation. Dress appropriately for the tasks and weather. Bring gardening gloves, packed lunch and useful tools. Finish about 4.00pm.

Meet 10.00 for clearance work on the Lower Dressing Floor. Dress appropriately for the tasks and weather. Bring gardening gloves, packed lunch and useful tools. Finish about 4.00pm.

Saturday 15 March 2008: AGM, Presentation and Field Trip

Venue for AGM and Talk: Walkham Village Hall (SX 5335 6964)
10.00: Arrival and coffee/biscuits
11.00: 2008 Annual General Meeting
12.00 approx. Presentation by Graeme Spink on "Mining Down-under"
 Lunch

1.30pm Meet at village hall car park for a field trip to Furzehill Mine, Horrabridge.

 

Friday 28 March 2008: Working Party at Brimpts Tin Mine

Sunday 13 April 2008: Off-moor streamworks in the Yealm watershed

10.30am: Meet at the layby south of Quick Bridge (SX 592 608). A series of short walks at a number of sites car-sharing between them. Pub lunch optional. Finish about 4pm. 

 

Sunday 8 June 2008:  Ringleshutts, Hooten Wheals and Henroost Mines 

Leader: Chris Kelland (Tin Miner)

Meet at Combestone car park (SX 670 718) at 9.55am for a fascinating day exploring tin mining remains and maybe collecting cassiterite.

 

Saturday 16 August 2008: Tinworks along the East Dart River

Leader: Bob Bruce 01752 837564

10.00am: Meet at Postbridge car park (SX 647 788) for an all-day walk of 10-12 miles finishing about 5.00pm.

 

Tuesday/Wednesday 23/24 September 2008: Visit to West Penwith

A two day trip with at least Tuesday led by Paul Bonnington (National Trust Archaeologist). More details later.

 

October 2008: Afternoon walk in the Chagford area followed by Social 

 

November 2008: GPS Workshop
