14.00 - 16.30 Field visit to Holne Chase Tin Mine, including dressing floors, tramway, incline and openwork. Meet at New Bridge car park, SX 7107 7088. Moderately strenuous in a SSSI on private land; no dogs please.

Wednesday 28 March 2007: Gunnislake Clitters Mine

Meet at 10.30am at Gunnislake railway station (SX 427 709) for car sharing to the mine site; finish about 4.00pm. Explore the mining remains from the four main phases of operation from 1823 to 1920. Bring packed lunch, stout footwear and waterproofs.

The 2007 NAMHO conference is being hosted by Tamar Mining Group in association with Plymouth Caving Group and other local NAMHO member organisations. Further details:

2pm: Guided walk around both the short (1hour) and the extended trails (return about 5.30).

6pm: Buffet tea and informal slide show at Brimpts by ticket only.

 

Wednesday 29 August 2007: Peter Hirst Memorial Stroll

Meet at 5.45 for a 6.00pm start at the old quarry car park (SX 609 750) opposite the Two Bridges Hotel for a stroll out to Crockern Tor and Wistman's Wood. The event is organised by Widecombe Local History Group and DTRG members are welcome. Book for a buffet supper (£8) at the Plume of Feathers, Princetown after the walk with Bob Bruce (01752 837564).


Saturday 1 September 2007: All day walk - Exploring the Brimpts Tin Mines Sett

Leader: Bob Bruce

Meet at Higher Cherrybrook Bridge car park at 10am for a 9 mile walk returning about 5pm. The walk will follow the Brimpts leat from its take-off from the Cherry Brook to the North Mine, on to the South Mine in the Plantation and the South Mine Gully and so to the East Dart. The return will follow the river upstream and then via Laughter Tor and Bellever Tor to the start.

Fairly strenuous with some uphill, rough and perhaps wet ground. Car share if possible because parking is limited. Bring pack lunch and be prepared for hot or wet weather.

10.30am: Meet at Cape Cornwall Car Park (SW 353 317) for a walk with Paul around Cape Cornwall, Carn Gloose and the Cot Valley.

4.30pm: Walk back to the car park arriving about 5.00pm.

Stout boots, all-weather clothing and food for the day are needed. It may be possible to arrange a pasty lunch at the Cot Valley. Please book your place (and pasty) with the coordinator by Monday 17 September.

2.00pm: Meet at Bedford Bridge near Horrabridge (SX 503 704) for an afternoon walk looking at tin mines in the Lower walkham valley.

6.00pm: Meet at the Devon Tors Hotel, Yelverton for a buffet followed by members contributions (talk, slides, powerpoint presentation, etc). Booking for the buffet is essential.

Buckfastleigh and District Society invite DTRG members to this talk at 7.30pm in Buckfastleigh Town Hall. Admission 50p.


Tuesday 13 November 2007: 6th GPS Workshop

11.00am: Meet at Prince of Wales, Princetown (SX 588 736) for a pub lunch and an informal discussion on the use of GPS including analysis of the results of the last practical session.

2.00pm: Meet at the Four Winds car park (SX 560 748) for a practical session on the moor.
